Fight A Traffic Ticket – How Long Is Too Long To Be Pulled Over For Speeding?
Let’s say you are going the speed limit and all the suddenly a cop comes around the corner and pulls you over. You find out that quite a bit down the road the cop claims that you were speeding and you are getting a speeding ticket because of this.
Unfortunately this happens from time to time. Lots of cars look alike and sometimes there are mistakes made.
Can a police officer pull you over and do this minutes and miles later?
Well, technically yes they can. There doesn’t seem to be a time limit or mile limit on how long or far a cop can go to pull you over. They are trying to do the best job they can and sometimes it takes awhile for them to catch up with the cars they are trying to catch.
In this situation how would you defend yourself in court?
The defense that you would take is to explain to the judge that the cop didn’t maintain line of sight with the vehicle that he or she found that was speeding. It will help if there were turns made where you can describe how you weren’t even on the road the cop may have said you were.
Even if you feel you are innocent, don’t going into court with just that one defense. Sometimes court doesn’t go exactly as you planned. It’s good to have backup defenses and backup plans just in case.
