Carrying excess weight can cause various health problems. One of these problems that extra weight can contribute to are hemorrhoid issues.

How does extra weight add to a hemorrhoid problem?

With extra weight being carried around especially while sitting down it can put extra pressure on the anal region. When sitting down for a bowel movement this extra weight can cause the veins to swell especially if there is extra pressure from constipation.

Pregnant women for example develop hemorrhoid problems with the extra baby weight. Part of this can be caused by various hormonal changes in the body but the extra weight causes this issue.

How a reduction in weight can help treat chronic hemorrhoids.

If the weight comes off, the pressure will decrease considerably and the hemorrhoid issues should not be as severe. If you are looking to lose some weight, choosing foods that are good for treating hemorrhoids is a good place to start. Eating foods high in fiber like fruits and vegetables along with much water will keep the stool at a consistency that helps hemorrhoids. Avoid processed foods as much as possible especially foods high in fats and salts. A plus is that this type of diet can help with weight issues as well.

Until the weight is lost there are some things that should be taken into consideration. Be sure that you don’t sit on toilet too long as this is your most vulnerable position to be in that can make hemorrhoids worse. Also be careful with strenuous exercise especially weight lifting as these put stress on hemorrhoids.

Almost have of women develop piles during their pregnancy normally in the later months. This condition sometimes known as hemorrhoids can become just yet another burden during pregnancy as it’s just more pain caused to the body while you want to rest and be seated.

Why are piles during pregnancy so much more common?

First of all any increase in mass causes a higher chance of developing piles. The extra weight that is carried around during pregnancy puts more strain on your rectal region especially while passing stool which is a common way you can develop this condition.

Secondly, when pregnant women produce more progesterone which is the other female hormone. This can be at levels as high as ten times as normal when not pregnant. What progesterone does to the body is slows the flow of blood. What this does is makes it easier for the baby to get more nutrients extracted helping the baby become healthier.

This slow blood flow causes more water to be leached from the body. A lack of water then causes constipation which then leads to a piles issue. There is nothing you can do about the progesterone increase as it’s good for the health of the baby but taking in more fluids than normal should be considered to counter the fluid issue.

Fortunately, piles by themselves aren’t going to cause the baby any harm. But it should be noted that any time you have an open wound or bleeding that the area should be properly cleaned and sanitized as an infection can cause harm to the baby. If you develop piles, keep them clean during the day. A shower, bath, or bidet is best but a sanitary wipe will make due as well.

Hemorrhoids are an extremely uncomfortable condition that normally with basic treatment goes away on it’s own. Sometimes though going to a doctor is needed. Until you get to the doctor for your appointment relief is needed.

One of the most common signs of hemorrhoids outside of the obvious swelling of external hemorrhoids is bleeding in your stool. At any point in time there is rectal bleeding that is the time to go see a doctor even if you are familiar with hemorrhoid issues from past episodes. It’s not a good idea to take a chance. If there isn’t any bleeding, you should still see a doctor if you have suffered with the problem and it hasn’t got any better.

How to get temporary relief before you visit the doctor?

Hemorrhoid creams and ointments do provide temporary relief. These normally can’t be used for more than a week or two but that gives you enough time to have some pain relief until your appointment.

Take a warm bath. One problem with hemorrhoids is when they swell. As they get larger they become more problematic. Taking a warm bath can help take care of the swelling quite a bit. This can be done more than a few times a day.

The big issue is to keep the area clean. Whether it’s a hemorrhoid problem, fissures, or tearing, all are exposed to the possibility of infection if not cleaned regularly. Showers, baths, and bidets work best but baby wipes will work during the day when these aren’t as available.

Piles also referred to sometimes as hemorrhoids are a somewhat serious problem for individuals causing pain, itching, burning, and problematic sitting for more than a few minutes of discomfort.

They are caused by a variety of reasons such as pregnancy, obesity, high blood pressure, constipation, strenuous exercise, and a poor diet that is lacking in fiber and fluids.

If you think you have a piles problem, what are some of the first treatment steps you should take to help relief some of the symptoms right now?

If you need relief and can’t immediately go to a doctor or get a commercial product like cream or ointment, there are a few things you can do in your home.

First all all, clean the area. An infection will make this problem last much long so the sooner you can clean the area the better. This can be done with a bidet or shower fairly easily just be gentle as you are going to be tender. Keep baby wipes with you during the day for cleanliness.

Once the area is clean taking care of any swelling will help reduce the size of the piles. Using an ice compress for no more than 10 minutes at a time can reduce the size of them. Also put a little bit of warm water in a bath and sit down and relax afterward. This combination of warm and cold will help with the swelling.

Eat foods that will soften your stool to help lessen the piles problem. Being constipated and putting pressure on the rectum can cause piles in the first place. After you have them, this pressure can make them worse, larger, or even tear. A combination of a banana or two with water would be a good starting point to help start softening the stool. If nothing else, drink more water.

Sometimes during hemorrhoid treatment, the hemorrhoid feels fine and isn’t much of a bother other than a mild itch or burn. Other times hemorrhoids become extremely painful wrecking your concentration and making it difficult to work or live life.

There are some tips on relieving hemorrhoid pain. Realistically you aren’t in the comfort of your own home all the time so there are some at work tips as well.

How to deal with painful hemorrhoids while at work or on errands.

One of the better tips is to keep baby wipes and hemorrhoid cream with you at all times during your healing process. The baby wipes are softer and cleaner than toilet paper. They can keep the area clean and more free from possible infections. Use the cream or ointment with this to give yourself some cooling relief.

It’s a good idea at work to not stress yourself too much physically or to sit for too long. Find ways of getting out of your chair from time to time during your hemorrhoid healing process. It’s a good idea to stand up a few times an hour so that all the pressure and blood isn’t around the hemorrhoid.

When at home dealing with hemorrhoid pain is easier because of the greater privacy.

For extremely painful hemorrhoids get a nice warm bath and soak in it. This will relieve the pain and help reduce any swelling the hemorrhoids have. Just don’t stay in the tub too long. Soaking in a tub or taking a sitz bath a few times a day does quite a bit for the pain of hemorrhoids.

If you think you have a hemorrhoid problem, finding pain relief as soon as possible is needed to function during the day. If you haven’t purchased any commercial products and are in pain right now, follow these steps to get hemorrhoid pain relief.

1. Fill the bathtub full of warm water making sure it’s not too hot and sit down and relax in the water for 15 minutes. This should offer some relief and also help with the swelling on the hemorrhoid and general area. This should be repeated twice a day to ensure that one gets cleanliness and reduction of swelling. Ice shielded with a towel is also a form of relieving pain and swelling.

2. Don’t sit down too long and don’t sit on hard surfaces. It might not be the most comfortable position in the world, but standing it going to feel much better than sitting down on a painful hemorrhoid. There are commercial products called cushions and donuts that allow one to sit for longer periods of time, but for now just do what you can while standing. If you have to sit, give yourself frequent breaks.

3. Use the restroom when you need to go. There is no sense in trying to hold it for later cause when you need to go it’s going to be easiest on the hemorrhoid. Going when you don’t need to go or holding your bowel movement too long is one of the causes of hemorrhoid problems in the first place.

4. When you do use the restroom, don’t sit on the toilet too long. This position is putting lots of stress on the hemorrhoid area. And whatever you do, do not try to force yourself to go as this is another cause of the hemorrhoid you have or worst off you may even get more than one.

5. Hydrate yourself with water and fruits. If you are having problems using the restroom or need relief from it, try a simple meal like water with some bananas and figs. These will soften your stool so that your next bowel movement will not be as painful. Also avoid foods that will cause unneeded pain like spicy foods.

While these tips aren’t the end of all of healing hemorrhoids, they will definitely relief the pain and suffering until your treatment option of choice is used.

What are hemorrhoids?

Hemorrhoids are actually swollen veins in the anal region of the body. They can occur externally or internally. Generally, they are accompanied with pain, itching, and burning.

Is bleeding normal when you have a hemorrhoid?

Bleeding is fairly normal when you have a hemorrhoid cause the stress from a bowel movement can cause tearing. Don’t think that all bleeding is a sign of hemorrhoids as bleeding can be a more serious condition. It’s best to see a doctor in this case.

Will hemorrhoids go away on their own?

If absolutely no treatment is done, then the hemorrhoid might not have the right conditions to just go away. Since the anal region isn’t the cleanest part of the body, infections can occur if treatment and cleanliness aren’t top priority. So they can get worse if nothing is done.

How long does it take for a hemorrhoid to go away?

With proper treatment hemorrhoids can go away fairly quickly. It all depends on the person and how severe the hemorrhoids were in the first place before seeking treatment.

When should I have hemorrhoid surgery?

This really should be determined by a doctor since they know best. Generally, surgery for hemorrhoids will only take place after seeking less invasive procedures.

What are some ways of treating hemorrhoids?

It’s best to keep the area clean. Frequent warm baths help the best as it also reduces the swelling. Baby wipes can help clean during the day. A change in diet with higher fiber and more water can help with the constipation issues which puts less stress on the hemorrhoids and can reduce hemorrhoids problems in the future.

There are a wide variety of options for hemorrhoid treatments to help get rid of the problem. Some may prefer commercial creams, medicines, and ointments to be their solution. Others enjoy having more natural and herbal treatments to help with hemorrhoids.

Butcher’s broom – This herb has been used for circulation problems and to help with inflammation for quite sometime. It’s also know to help relief itching and burning. Since hemorrhoids are a vein problem and do itch and burn, butcher’s broom can help. It’s applied directly to the problem area.

Horse chestnut – Horse chestnut has similar properties to butcher’s broom. The difference is that horse chestnut is normally taken in capsule form or as a tea.

Witch hazel – Witch hazel has many anti-inflammatory properties. It can be taken in its more natural form or even in commercial products. There are wipes that are treated with witch hazel that are specifically for hemorrhoid problems. You can take witch hazel in liquid form and make your own wipes if you wish and use it on the swelling.

Bioflavonoids – Bioflavonoids have been known to decrease inflammation as well as to strengthen blood vessel walls which are both positive to helping with hemorroids. A type of food to get bioflavonoids from are citrus fruits.

Fiber – Although this is not an herb, it’s found in plants and very helpful with your fight against hemorrhoids. Fiber will relieve constipation and soften your stool making it less painful to pass a bowel movement and reduce any straining.

Water – Water is necessary for proper digestion of any herb, food, or fiber that you choose to take. Without water your body won’t digest anything properly. Water also helps relieve constipation which will help with the problem.

When you have a hemorrhoid problem, dry toilet paper can be irritating and stressful to a hemorrhoid. A better option is a wet wipe as it can help treat hemorrhoids at the same time.

Tucks medicated pads are a great for hemorrhoid problems. The reason that tucks are even better than most other pads and wipes is because they are treated with witch hazel.

Witch hazel is known to be anti-inflammatory which will help reduce swelling. It also helps with itching and burning which is perfect for hemorrhoids.

Tucks medicated pads are relatively cheap. They can be used in septic tanks and sewage systems so you don’t have to worry about them clogging everything up.

Be careful though that you follow the directions. These are only supposed to be used 6 times a day. The best time to use these with a hemorrhoid problem is after a bowel movement or when you feel you need to clean up the area. Try to use them while out of the house on errands or while at work to keep fresh.

Medicated wipes will help with the itching, pain, and swelling, but they are not going to be a complete solution to hemorrhoids. Don’t expect this and this alone to make hemorrhoids go away.

If under any circumstance you have a thrombosed hemorrhoid pop or split open, it’s best to go see a doctor. A hemorrhoid is part of the blood vessels so they will continue to bleed. There is too much potential infection that can get into the hemorrhoid in the rectal area.

Should hemorrhoids be popped on purpose?

Some people try to pop their hemorrhoids on their own. This is a dangerous practice and shouldn’t be done. An open hemorrhoid will continue to bleed and bleed. It’s not like a pimple.

What can be done about the swelling?

Instead of popping hemorrhoids focus on reducing the swelling. This is a much healthier and safer approach.

To reduce the swelling of a hemorrhoid you need to take sitz baths. This can be done by sitting in a bathtub with warm water or getting a sitz bath basin that sits in the toilet. The warm water can reduce the swelling of a thrombosed hemorrhoid.

Using an ice compress with a towel will help reduce the swelling. This can be done after a sitz bath.

How to get rid of a hemorrhoid problem.

Hemorrhoids will go away and stay away with a change of habits. This will involve drinking more water and adding more fiber into the diet. Go the restroom when you need to without holding it too long and don’t sit on the toilet for long periods of time.
